In memoriam: Poppy Chancellor

Poppy Chancellor and her incredible art

I’m blinded by your grace.

I’m amazed how you managed to get together all these people in your ceremonies and even yesterday when we said goodbye in your presence, it felt so right, a continuation of your magic. We heard you in that thunder. ⚡️

It’s like you knew, “Hey girls you will need each other, here is your new grief group, you’re welcome guys” I can even hear you saying that in your sassy voice. Makes me smile.

I’m broken and I’m very angry, so angry, because man, you were a 10, the bomb. So much talent. But you are in a better place now, no more pain.

Your life of service was just incredible, for years you gave your time to people grieving through The Griefcase, feeling all those feelings of strangers, every month at our meetings, you helped SO many people with your incredible art with your warm soul.

The kindness, the patience, the sass, the warmth, what a woman.
You came and saved me when mum died, you offered me your hand and opened your arms to my broken soul. We hit immediately and boy, we had fun.

You ARE one of the most hilarious people I’ve ever met, your impersonations made me laugh until my stomach hurt every single time.
Even on this difficult journey since the diagnosis, your dignity, bravery and humor were just remarkable, and admirable, making everyone around you feel at ease and being so impressed with how you dealt with it all, doing the healing ceremonies, with your dance a day, your art and your journal, being surrounded by love and the force of “your witches”.

I feel honored to have been included, to be called your friend, you taught me so much.
I feel grateful I had the chance to say all this to your beautiful face the last time we saw each other.

You put us together and we will always sing the many songs of you, Mágica Poppy to everyone who wants to hear it until the end of our days. We’ll carry you, always.

I told Mum to take care of you out there, to hold your hand.
We will do the same with your mum on this side, promise.

I’m blinded by your grace, my beautiful darling Popstar
